WGFD seeks tips on poached mule deer

(Laramie, Wyo.) - The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking information on a buck mule deer that was poached near Laramie over the weekend. The mature buck was shot sometime between Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25. The carcass was dumped in a steep ravine north of the paved portion of the Roger Canyon Road. It was located near a limestone outcropping that is popular with 4-wheel-drive enthusiasts. Tracks at the scene indicate the vehicle used to haul the deer had aggressive tires that allowed the individual to drive up the rugged terrain. No meat was taken and the buck’s antlers remained intact. “This wasn’t the only vehicle to go up there, but only a couple would have been there Friday night or Saturday morning,” said Game Warden Jason Sherwood. Sherwood is hoping someone who was in the area during that time might have some information about the crime. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call the Laramie Game and Fish office at (307) 745-4046 or the Stop Poaching Tip Line at 1-877-WGFD-TIP (1-877-943-3847). Tips may also be reported online at http://wgfd.wyo.gov; click on the Stop Poaching logo. Informants may receive a cash reward for tips that lead to a conviction, and can choose to remain anonymous. *Feature Photo: Mule Deer. h/t Tom Reichner / Shutterstock / Pitchengine Communities* #shortgo #news
