Australian Actress ANNA BAUERT Shines On-Screen with Award-Winning Film Performance and Popular Wrestling Podcast

SYDNEY, Australia (July 18, 2017) – Actress Anna Bauert proves a shining star winning the 2017 American Movie Award for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ in Stephan Elliott’s HORIZON. Bauert has also been busy kicking-butt as a Podcast Host on, delivering top-notch coverage of Pro-Wrestling to fans around the world.

Based on the most watched gay web series in the world, HORIZON follows closeted country boy Jake on his journey to meet AJ, the man he’s fallen in love with after months of chatting online. When AJ is exposed as a cheater and sex addict, Jake is unexpectedly catapulted into the crazy world of caustic drag queen, Wilma (Patrick James). Things get even more complicated with the arrival of Jake’s best friends from school, Millie (Bauert) and Mickey; while Wilma seeks answers as to why her estranged father has left a message on her phone after 12 years.

Bauert was thrilled at the opportunity to help turn this popular web series into a film, adding “The entire production team was fantastic. Bauert’s witty banter and friendly style have quickly made her a fast-rising star on the network.

Slated for release in 2018, fans can catch Bauert in a leading role in David Fairhurst’s psychological drama film, REACHING DISTANCE; and starring in Timothy Boyle’s horror feature film, ON HALLOWEEN. Also coming soon, Bauert will appear in the collaborative Virtual Reality (VR) series, DREAM CHANNEL. Bauert first burst onto the Australian television scene landing the role of ‘Mephanny’ in the international award-winning children’s sci-fi series, STORMWORLD (ABC/Brightlight Pictures). She went on to appear opposite Todd Lasance (Spartacus) in an episode of the popular television series CROWNIES (ABC/Screentime Australia); and recur as ‘Alma’ in the critically acclaimed mini-series CLOUDSTREET (Showtime), which screened in Australia, the US and the UK. She went on to recur as ‘Xena’ in the final episodes on the popular Seven Network series, PACKED TO THE RAFTERS.

Born in Brisbane and raised in Perth, Bauert began training in acting, singing and dancing at an early age. At 12 years old, she was accepted to study in the Advanced Teen Screen Acting course with Ali Roberts’ Studios. She went on to complete the Film and Television Institute’s Screen Acting Diploma course, graduating under the guidance of Fern Nicholson. In 2015, Bauert graduated from the Professional Conservatory program at the Atlantic Acting School in New York City, founded by David Mamet and William H. Macy. Today, she continues to train in Sydney under the tutelage of the Sydney Actors Collective, led by Chum Ehelepola.
