Ashley Avis’s Coming-of-Age Drama ‘ADOLESCENCE’ Lands Distribution at North of Two

LOS ANGELES (July 9, 2018) – North of Two has acquired the worldwide distribution rights to the dark coming-of-age drama Adolescence, directed by Ashley Avis (Black Beauty). The film was produced by Winterstone Pictures and is set to make its festival debut this fall.

Adolescence follows painfully shy teenager Adam (Unfriended's Mickey River), who falls in love with the beautiful, enigmatic runaway Alice (Underworld's India Eisley). As Alice lures him away from his bland, blue collar life and into her vibrant and unpredictable world, Adam slips down a progressively dark path, filled with raging parties, drugs and eventually heroin addiction. It will take Adam's best friend, Keith (Romeo Miller), and his unlikely mentor, Shepherd (Tommy Flanagan), to bring him back from the fast-lane into the light -- if they aren’t already too late.

The cast also features Elisabeth Rohm, Jere Burns, Ever Carradine, Michael Milford and Zac Brown Band member John Driskell Hopkins.

The film was produced by Edward Winters and Larry Hummel, and Executive Produced by Michael Milford, Mark Cartier, and Lars Anderson. The story was written by Mickey River & Cal Barnes, with the screenplay being written by Cal Barnes & Mickey River, and Chris Rossi and Ashley Avis.

Adolescence marks the third feature film for Avis, whose upcoming projects include directing and penning the screenplay adaptation of the modern day Black Beauty reprisal for Constantin Film / Bolt Pictures; and directing the tragic love story Trancas by Lem Dobbs.

Ashley Avis is represented by Jon Brown of Ensemble Entertainment and Ryan Goodell, Esq. of Morris Yorn.
