Actress ANNA FRANKL-DUVAL Leads the Female Rebellion in Celebrated Action-Thriller Short Film ‘THE RESISTANCE’
NEW YORK (October 9, 2019) – Actress Anna Frankl-Duval is the face and leader of the female rebellion in the dystopian dramatic short film, THE RESISTANCE. The action-packed thriller comes from director Natasha Straley and writer Lenore Marks, who also stars opposite Frankl-Duval.
Set in the near future, THE RESISTANCE unveils a United States that has been overthrown by a totalitarian authority and is now known as The Regime Republic. Best friends Emma (Marks) and Chloe (Frankl-Duval), tired of brutal reforms that aim to remove women from positions of power, start an underground resistance movement. After their first plan is foiled by The Regime, they must figure out a way to get their message out before it is too late.
The project has been gaining attention on the festival circuit with screenings at the Portland Film Festival and Berkshire Film Festival. This fall, the film will screen as an Official Selection at the Chelsea Film Festival, San Jose International Film Festival, and Reading Film Festival in October and at the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival in November.
Frankl-Duval was thrilled at the opportunity to portray this fiercely loyal, strong and determined character, explaining “Chole is direct, honest and unafraid to stand up for what she believes in – she’s a total badass, how could I not love playing her? On top of that, this project was powered by a team of insanely talented and creative women. It was such a supportive set to work on. The Resistance is one of the most empowering and inspiring experiences of my career so far.”
Originally from London, Frankl-Duval has been building a solid reputation for her talents since making her way to New York. She wrote, produced and starred in the indie short If Only, which proved a festival hit earning several awards and accolades, including a Best Actress nomination for Frankl-Duval at the Festival of Cinema NYC.
