Basin SWE below average. Where's the snow?

The Bighorn Basin Snowpack for this time of year is lagging well behind one year ago at this time. The Snow Water Equivalent (SWE) measured by the Natural Resources Conservation Service in Casper noted the Basin snowpack at only 61 percent of the median. That compares with 104 percent of median one year ago this week. "Our SWE numbers are not good for this time of the year," reported Lee Hackleman, a water supply specialist for the NRCS."However we still have plenty of time to make this deficit up, but this next week does not look too good."
