Hot Springs County Fair's Multi-Purpose Building's Roof still needs attention

The Hot Springs County Commissioners this week said a problem left by the firm who replaced the roof at the fairground's muliti-purpose building has caused more damage. "Atlas Roofing did not install a ridge cap or snow slides on the roof, and now that has damaged the gutters and down spouts," said John Lumley, commission chairman. "That building is used so much when kids leave the west side, and there's snow on the roof, it could come sliding down and hurt someone. It's a safety issue," he said. The snow stops were meant to stop big slabs of snow from coming off of the roof at one time. "We're working with the contractor to get that resolved," he said. The commissioners this week also decided to apply for a Wyoming Business Council grant of $6,000 to have a study conducted on the future use of the former airport property. Several people have stepped forward with ideas, including a housing development. Lumley said a study of the property will give the county other options to consider. #springcity #news
