High Wind Watch remains in effect for Thermopolis

(Thermopolis, Wyo.) - The National Weather Service in Riverton maintains a high wind watch is in effect for the Southwest Big Horn Basin, including the City of Thermopolis through Thursday evening. TIMING: South winds will increase quickly on Thursday and may become high winds by mid to late Thursday morning. These winds will continue but shift more to the West late Thursday afternoon as a cold front moves through. WINDS: South 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph possible. Shifting to the West late Thursday afternoon and continue into Thursday evening. IMPACTS: Travelers around Thermopolis, Kirby and over to Grass Creek should be prepared for very strong Winds Thursday into Thursday evening. Please check the latest road report before venturing out. PRECAUTIONARY ACTIONS: A high wind watch means there is the potential for a hazardous high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph, or gusts of 58 mph or stronger may occur. #springcity #news
