Our girls varsity is playing regionals!
The girls are gonna have to work really hard in order to make state! Corey
Sova, girls basketball head coach said “In order to play at state, we have
to qualify at Regionals. There are 8 teams and it is double elimination.
Only the top 4 go to state – meaning you have to win two games before
“It will be tough competition but if we play hard, smart, and together we
will have a chance to make it to state. The girls are nervous but
confident. We talk about simply getting better every day, and I think we
have done that, I am proud of the girls. With the loss of 6 Seniors (with 5
being starters) last year, many people thought our girls would really
struggle. Their record is 14-8 going into Regionals. If we make it to
state, you can be state champion if you win 3 games in a row. There are
some very good teams but if the girls do make it to state, they will
represent the school well and play as hard or harder than any other team.
We always talk about how it can be anyone’s tournament once you make it to
state,” Corey Sova, girls head basketball coach is nervous, but very
confident in his team.
Regionals is at Riverton H.S. and Central Wyoming College on February
25-26-27. The first game is Thursday at 2:30 vs Wyoming Indian H.S. They
are a good team again as they always are in contention for a state title.
State is in Casper on March 3-4-5. Good Luck Ladycats!
