Winter Storm Warning posted for Hot Springs County; 100 percent chance of snow next 36 hours; Ranchers urged to protect young livestock

(Riverton, Wyo.) - The National Weather Service office in Riverton said Hot Springs County will not escape the latest spring storm that promises to bring heavy snow to the area east of the Continental Divide. A 100 percent chance of rain and snow, and then snow is forecast for tonight with a 100 percent chance of snow on Tuesday, decreasing to 70 percent Tuesday night and gradually decreasing from 70 to 30 percent on Wednesday Snowfall between 3 and 5 inches is possible both overnight and on Tuesday. The Winters storm warning has been posted for the Absaroka Mountains, Cody Foothills, Southwest Big Horn Basin, the Owl Creek and Bridger mountains and the communities of Cody, Meeteetse and Thermopolis. Ranchers are urged to take precautions to protect young livestock.
