Hawk's Avenue of Flags installed for the first time; Memorial Day Ceremonies planned

Hawk’s Avenue of Flags was created in 2016 in memory of Donald L. Hawkins, who passed January 9, 2016. His love for his country and involvement with the VFW Post #2281 inspired his family to use the money they received after his passing to create a memorial to honor Veterans connect to Hot Springs County. Hawk’s Avenue of Flags was designed to honor all deceased Veterans by displaying the casket flag used at their military funeral on a flag pole at Monument Hill Cemetery on Memorial Day. Memorial Day Services: Monument Hill Cemetery 11:00am, Riverside Cemetery at 11:30am and Park Street Bridge at Noon. Julie Lehman, Hawk’s daughter, stated the goal for the first year was to have 6 flags displayed and there are 60 flags displayed today. #springcity #rush #news
