RMS making improvements to security protocol

Riverton Middle School will start using the Raptor Visitor Management System starting January 4, 2017. The Raptor system allows us to identify visitors, contractors, and volunteers in our school with the goal of providing a safer environment for our students and staff.

This is how the new system will impact your visits to RMS starting Wednesday, January 4, 2017:

● You will be asked to provide a valid state-issued photo ID, which we will scan into the system.

● This is a very quick process - the Raptor System only scans your ID for your name, date of birth and photo.

● You only need a visitor pass if you are going into our building through the secured lobby door.

● The system can access our Power School on-file alerts as to court ordered restrictions ie: custodial and non-custodial parents, no trespassing issues etc.

● Once entry to the building is approved, Raptor will issue you a dated visitor pass that identifies the visitor and the purpose of his/her visit.

● You do not need to be scanned into the system if you are just picking up your child or dropping something off at the front office.

● To complete your visit, please turn the visitor pass into the office before you leave RMS so we can check you out of the Raptor Visitor System.

● In the event that you do not have a state issued ID, you can still be given access to the building, but will be escorted by a school staff member.

● If you do not have photo identification available, an administrator can allow your information to be manually entered into the Raptor System. However, your information cannot be manually entered more than two times before being denied entry.

Thank you for your understanding and support of enhancing school safety protocols in our district.
