Westport Café and Bar owners launch new consulting firm La Belle Epoque

The French natives and owners announce La Belle Epoque, a Kansas City-based consulting firm for restaurants and bars

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (Feb. 19, 2019) – As Kansas City’s innovative culinary scene continues to make a name for itself, the owners behind the successful Westport Café and Bar want to help the city’s restaurateur movers and shakers push their boundaries. In order to do so, the French team leading Westport Café including Kevin Mouhot (owner and general manager), Romain Monnoyeur (owner and executive chef), and Nicolas Mermet (catering director of signature events and assistant general manager), are launching La Belle Epoque, a consulting firm for restaurants and bars located in Kansas City, Missouri.

 

The three French natives are hoping to use their passion for the industry and extensive culinary, hotel, and business backgrounds to offer knowledge to current and aspiring restaurant owners in Kansas City. With the success of Westport Café and Bar, known for its exceptional service and dedication to evolving and modernizing French cuisine, they began seeking new challenges and creative opportunities to improve the industry.

The new business offers customized consulting and advisory options including menu and recipe design and creation, staff training and manuals, service protocol development and implementation, sales maximization strategies, trusted vendor selections, vision clarification exercises, and much more. Clients of La Belle Epoque can expect a hands-on approach from Mouhot, Monnoyeur, and Mermnet. About the Team


Kevin Mouhot, Co-Owner and General Manager: After enrolling in culinary school at the age of 15 and earning his degree in marketing and hotel management from the BTS Hôtellerie Restauration, Mouhot went on to gain experience in luxury hotels and fine dining restaurants across Europe and the United States, including the Dorchester Hotel in London and La Marée in Monaco.

 

Romain Monnoyeur, Co-Owner and Executive Chef: Born into a family of seasoned cooks, gardeners and winemakers in the hills of Lyon, France, Monnoyeur has long been impassioned by the joys of cooking, with special attention given to sourcing the finest ingredients. He brings nearly nine years of professional culinary experience in France and the United States to Westport Café, having served roles at Ducasse in Monaco and Caillebotte in Paris, which was voted best bistro in Paris in 2014.

Nicolas Mermet, Catering Director of Signature Events and Assistant General Manager: Mermet attended the University of Chambéry, specializing in the marketing and finance aspects of the food and beverage industry. His extensive background includes hospitality experience at luxury hotels and fine dining restaurants across the world, including The Intercontinental in Chengdu, China, The Venetian in Las Vegas and the Beau-Rivage Palace in Lausanne, Switzerland.
