Anessia Ann Porter

ANESSIA ANN PORTER

Anessia Ann Porter passed away on the morning of May 17, 2017 at the age of 45 years old. She was born on May 18, 1971 to Billy Joe and Yolanda Marie (Aragon) Porter in Reno, Nevada. Her and her brother, Lawrence, were raised in San Jose, California where she graduated from Independence High School. She later became a beloved mother to her daughter, Josephine. Years later in 1999, she moved up to Fort Washakie, Wyoming where she enjoyed the rest of her life with her longtime companion, Archie.

Anessia was known for having a fun personality and she always had a sense of humor. She had many friends in both California and Wyoming throughout her life. She loved to go all out and celebrate special events and holidays, but most importantly her birthday. Some of her favorite activities include playing bingo, cooking, winning at the casino, and going to yard sales and auctions. She loved Coca Cola, Prince, animals, visiting California, and spending time with her friends and family.

As the owner of A&A catering, Anessia followed her passion for cooking and special events. She was known for her delicious barbeque, frybread and Indian tacos. Every year, she enjoyed running her food stand at the Eastern Shoshone Indian Days Pow Wow.

Anessia earned two Associate of Arts degrees in psychology and criminal justice at Central Wyoming College. She also worked to receive her (CDL) commercial driver’s license. She had many occupations throughout the years including a probation officer, social worker, and TERO clerk for the Eastern Shoshone Tribe. Her most enjoyable job was working at Video Warehouse in Lander, where she was a beloved, dedicated employee.

Anessia is survived by her mother, Yolanda Marie (Aragon) Porter; brother, Lawrence Porter; daughter, Josephine Allina Porter; longtime companion, Archie Powell; her daughter’s father, Vincent Campbell, her pets: Sassy, Gracie, Fluffy and Josie, and her many relatives and close friends throughout the country.

She was preceded in death by her father, Billy Joe Porter.

Traditional services will be held at the family’s house off of Boulder Flats in Fort Washakie on May 22nd at 7pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 23rd at 10am at the Rocky Mountain Hall in Fort Washakie, Wyoming, with Butch Diviney and Arlen Shoyo officiating. Interment will be at the Aragon Cemetery in Kinnear, WY.
