The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce invites local businesswomen to attend its annual Women’s Leadership Conference on March 21, 2017 for a day to empower and encourage women to recognize, seize and create leadership opportunities within the workplace.

The Women’s Leadership Conference will take place on March 21, 2017 at the Inn at Virginia Tech, located at 901 Prices Fork Road in Blacksburg. The event will begin at 8:00 a.m, and it will conclude at 5:00 p.m.

“There are going to be lots of amazing opportunities offered at the conference,” said Sharon Scott, executive director for the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce. “We know it is going to be a great day for all of these amazing women.”

The day will begin with registration and a continental breakfast. After the opening remarks, the Virginia Secretary of Education Dr. Dietra Trent will deliver a keynote speech. The conference will then eat lunch while participating in a panel discussion featuring experts in professional development. After lunch, attendees will attend two rounds of workshops. Each of the two rounds will offer four different workshops to choose from. These workshops will include topics such as professional development, marketing, risk analysis and leadership skills. There will then be activities at the tables, an award ceremony and final remarks. Lastly, the day will end with a networking reception.

“We hope to inspire and motivate these women to be leaders within their workplace and the community. The world needs more women leadership,” Scott says.

Throughout the day, there will be several networking events. Specifically, the networking reception starting at 4:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring about 150 to 200 business cards.

The dress is business or business-casual. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as attendees will be networking and moving from the main ballroom to breakout sessions on the upper levels during the day. Many of the rooms may be chilly, so bringing a sweater or light jacket is suggested as well. Name tags will be provided at check in, but attendees can wear her business tag, if preferable.

The conference will provide a continental breakfast, buffet lunch, and two drink tickets for the networking time at the end.
