Wyoming State Winter Fair Celebrates 50th Anniversary

The Wyoming State Winter Fair 50th Anniversary Celebration is here. This Wyoming State Winter Fair will be the best one yet! “Thank You” to HOWL Rodeo Bulls for the Ultimate Miniature Bull Riding events which start the next two week ends of Winter Fair events. 

Ultimate Miniature Bull Riding will be on Saturday, March 4th at 7 pm at the Lander Old Timer’s Rodeo Arena. Ultimate Miniature Bull Riding believes in helping youngsters from the very beginning and HOWL has a very special set of miniature bulls that allow the youngest bull riders the opportunity to learn skills in the chutes and develop confidence and riding skills. The following day, Sunday, March 5th brings the Wyoming State Winter Fair’s 50th Anniversary Horse Show. The Horse Show is open to enthusiasts of all ages from all over the state and the region. Registration will begin at 7:30 am the morning of the Horse Show. Payouts will depend on class size. There will be over forty classes offered at this 50th Anniversary Winter Fair Horse Show. Friday, March 10th will mark the beginning of the 50th Anniversary Wyoming State Winter Fair Trade Show. The set-up for Vendors of the Trade Show will begin, at their convenience, 7:00 am until 11:00 am, at which time the Trade show will be open to the public.

On the second day, Saturday, March 11th, The Winter Fair Trade show will be open to Vendors at 9:00 am and the Trade show will be open to the public at 10:00 am on the final day of the Fair. The closing time for both Friday and Saturday will be at 8:30 pm. Vendors are asked to please keep their booths open to the public for the full length of the Fair and not close prior to 8:30 pm each evening.

Be sure not to miss the Opening Ceremony and the Booth Awards and the Prince and Princess Contest scheduled for approximately 5-5:40 pm on Friday.

Even more exciting events to attend!

    • The Open Craft Fair will be held on Friday only from 11:00 to 1:00. 
    • The 4-H Cake Raffle will begin on Friday at 2:00 pm until closing and on Saturday from 10:00 am until closing. 
    • The Fashion Show is scheduled for Saturday at 12:30 pm
    • Talent Show will be at approximately 3:00 pm that same day.

The Trade Show will feature some superior talent this 50th Anniversary year including Allen Upshaw, The Sheridans, Darrah Perez, Poet and Storyteller, Believe Music Ministry, The Catholic College, Erica Flom and Fiddlers, Andy Vasquez, The Hoop Dancers, Bird Singers and Storytellers, Packin-the-Mail, Coupe DeVille, The Motion Bliss Academy and more. A special “Congratulations” to Marlene Young for receiving the Chamber of Commerce Lifetime Achievement Award at this year’s Chamber Awards Luncheon Ceremony. Marlene acted as the Wyoming State Winter Fair President for four years, Vice President for six years, Secretary for five years, Horse Show Leader for nine years, Trade Show Coordinator for many years and Coordinator of Entertainment since the beginning of the Wyoming State Winter Fair in 1967. We all agree that Marlene has made a life long contribution to the Winter Fair over the past 50 years. “Thank You” Marlene for all you’ve done to bring recognition to the Lander and Fremont County Community through your work with the Winter Fair and a big “Thank You” for being involved in the planning again this year, the 50th Anniversary of the Wyoming State Winter Fair.
