Batanga Latin American Tapas Restaurant & Bar Announces New Menu, Weekly Specials and Events

HOUSTON – September 6, 2018 – Batanga Latin American tapas restaurant and bar at 908 Congress Avenue in Downtown Houston announces a new food and cocktail menu, plus a lineup of weekly specials, happy hour and weekend brunch. Known for its globally inspired tapas, live Latin music and for having the largest patio in Downtown Houston, the new offerings add rich flavors to Houston’s diverse dining landscape.

“Many of the new dishes and drinks were inspired by our trips to Belize, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico City, The Philippines, Spain and Tulum, where most food is grilled -- a healthier preparation and great news for our gluten-free guests,” explain owners Brian and Ianne Fasthoff. “By adding these new tapas to our popular big plates like The Grilldabeast, a meat-lovers feast of grilled skirt steak, gaucho sausage, bone-in pork chop and chicken, over half of our menu is now gluten-free.”

“We’re really excited about our new cocktails that are specifically designed to beat the Houston heat and made with thirst-quenching, tropical fruit flavors,” says Ianne Fasthoff.

A nod to Ianne’s Filipino heritage and the couple’s sense of humor, “Adios Pantalones” (English translation: goodbye pants) is made with calamansi (Philippine lime), pineapple and vodka.

“The new cocktails, along with our popular frozens like Frezcal, Frose and Moscow Mule, are perfect refreshments for relaxing on the patio,” adds Brian. “We also introduced spice to a classic cocktail by adding Swedish Punsch and burnt cinnamon sticks in our Batanga Rum Old Fashioned.”
