studioMET Architects Unveil Dream House Designed for Entertaining with Wes Stoyanov and Sebastien “Mr. D 1987” Boileau in Creative Collaboration Benefiting The Periwinkle Foundation
HOUSTON, October 1, 2018 -- On September 22, studioMET Architects, event curator Wes Stoyanov, owner of Luxury Homes Realty and artist Sebastien “Mr. D 1987” Boileau hosted “Luxury Redefined,” a collaborative project showcasing architecture, art, fashion, fine food and luxury automobiles. Over 150 guests enjoyed a rare opportunity to tour a custom-designed mid-century modern-style, private residence by studioMET Architects. Situated on a six-acre site in a rural setting just outside The Woodlands in Magnolia, Texas, the courtyard residence is a sophisticated intervention of modern living with simple geometric forms and strong horizontal lines that embraces the natural surroundings. The event was the first of many fabulous fêtes to come for the homeowners, Mark and Amanda Basford, in their “dream house designed for entertaining.”
Internationally acclaimed street artist Sebastien "Mr. D 1987" Boileau presented an art exhibit featuring new works including two BMW i3 art cars and a reimagined vintage kimono in collaboration with Kimono Zulu.
Kimono Zulu hosted a trunk show in the bar lounge with La Quijana. DJ Josh Zulu created the musical ambience while a model walked through the house and outdoor lounge/ pool area modeling Japanese kimonos styled with artisan handbags, jewelry and couture sneakers by La Quijana.
JD3 Lasers lit up the trees surrounding the entrance of the home creating a mesmerizing “Matrix” canopy effect with multi-colored lasers flashing through the trees. Inside the home’s wine room, the custom-made wine storage sculpture was outlined with lasers, highlighting the triangular storage units and illuminating the adjacent bar lounge.
Award-winning Robard's Steakhouse served a luxurious menu including Japanese Kobe Nigiri, Alaskan King Crab Salad, Kalbi-glazed Pork Belly, Prosciutto de Parma Crisp and quiche. Robard’s Executive Pastry Chef Ryan Witcher presented a surprise birthday cake to the homeowner, Dr. Amanda Basford, followed by a Champagne toast in honor of the occasion. Macaron by Patisse provided decadent macaron towers and favors.
Boheme curated the bar with craft cocktails, wine and bubbles, featuring signature drinks “Into the Woods” and “Doctor’s Orders” in honor of Dr. Amanda Basford.
Guests included: Cynthia Alvarado, Jennifer Majors Baca, Tamara and Geoff Basford, Catherine Blackwell, Jodie Brooke, Nickole and Darren Bobley, Lisa Buckner, Estevan and Marian Cabanillas, Maria and Kris Cabanillas, Tom Combs, Cathy Connolly, Christina and Adam Frome, Patrick and Lacy Gill, Walter and Linda Greig, Sherry Griffin, Patricia Hobbs, Brandon and Angie Kahl, Damien and Maud Lhors, Brenda and Shail Maheshwari, Annette Palmer, David and Monica Randall, Karl and Kristin Stomberg, and David Wray.
Mark and Amanda Basford selected The Periwinkle Foundation as the event beneficiary to help raise funds and awareness for the organization, whose mission is to develop and provide programs that positively change the lives of children, young adults and families who are challenged by cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and are cared for at Texas Children’s Hospital. Luxury Redefined was one of Periwinkle’s September events recognizing Childhood Cancer and Sickle Cell Disease Awareness Month (September).
