HOUSTON, May 15, 2019 – Local Table, a new concept conceived by the family that created Hungry’s restaurants in Houston’s Rice Village and Memorial neighborhoods, will open June 3 with a ribbon-cutting event with the Cy-Fair Houston Chamber of Commerce in Cypress at Lakeland Village Center, 10535 Fry Road. The next-generation iteration, led by Shervin and Neima Sharifi, Local Table owners and nephews of Hungry’s original founder, Fred Sharifi, continues the focus on freshness using locally sourced, farm-fresh ingredients, while catering to foodies and young families building a life in the suburbs who desire a dining destination with a unique combination of hipness and kid-friendliness. The first Local Table location opened in Katy’s Villagio Town Center in 2016.

The name “Local Table” exemplifies the spirit of neighborhood and community, a true place to connect. The team behind Local Table witnessed a need for a social gathering spot where patrons can share food and drink with friends either among adults only or with their children. Given the large number of young families in growing suburban communities, Local Table provides an answer to the struggle of finding a social dining venue that both parents and kids enjoy. The layout and menu options are designed to present Local Table as an inviting happy hour or date-night destination.

“Bringing familiar inner-city vibes to the suburbs, Local Table offers a cool yet comfortable place where our neighbors can relax, unwind, dine, celebrate special events and enjoy quality time with family and friends over healthy meals,” says Hungry’s owner Ashkan Nowamooz. “As their lives have evolved and they start their own families, many have moved beyond Houston proper. Local Table brings what they know and love from town--without the drive--to their own neighborhood.”

Taking inspiration from Hungry’s, the adapted Local Table menu features a diverse array of globally-inspired, made-from-scratch, fresh fare including seasonal lunch and dinner specials, vegetarian and vegan options, weekend brunch and bar bites.

The menu includes Hungry’s customer favorites and signature dishes including wood-fired Neapolitan-style pizzas, Mediterranean Salmon, Anaheim Chile Grilled Chicken, and Kabob Plate, robust salads, vegan dishes and gluten-friendly fare.

Like Hungry’s, Local Table makes all menu items available for seated dining and take-out or home/office delivery via phone or online ordering. Catering services are coming soon.

Located in Cypress’ fast-growing Bridgeland master-planned community, the 4,822-square-foot building in the Lakeland Village Center can accommodate up to 150 guests inside and features a 15-seat bar, where guests can kick back and enjoy cask wine, craft beer and cocktails within view of several large-screen televisions. Ten barstools are available at the patio bar and dog-friendly patio seating for another 42 people is also part of the dining mix.

Palmer Schooley and Laura Young, the project design team at Schooleydesign behind the beautifully designed Hungry’s location in Rice Village, were once again recruited to develop the interiors and outdoor dining spaces, bringing to life a comfortable, creative, modern space that is visually stimulating, well-textured, and at the same time, completely unimposing. Brick, wood and steel combined with modern touches result in an urban and classic feel. The lighted “CTX” marquee letters on the main dining room copper accent wall is a nod to the restaurant’s Cypress locale and a memorable backdrop for guests to snap a photo.

Key features include:

  • Casual, open-concept dining spaces for upward of 136 guests, with a partially on-view kitchen and pizza oven
  • Elevated booth seating and large booth seating options for smaller parties
  • A 60-square-foot pizza station with a non-wood-burning oven
  • 24-foot bar with TVs and a 14-foot-wide folding window system at the back bar, allowing service directly to the patio bar when open
  • Dog-friendly, umbrella-covered patio seating
  • Semi-private areas to accommodate up to 18 guests inside and 30-40 outside for special events or meetings

Local Table will be open daily for lunch and dinner, with weekend brunch offered on Saturdays and Sundays.

Happy Hour is offered Monday through Friday 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. and features $3.50 domestics, $4.50 craft brews, $4 wells, $5/glass house wine and $6 frose.
