Shop Kimono Zulu at Rummel Square (Oct. 12-30) and Bader Ranch (Oct. 26-30)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
HOUSTON – September 29, 2021 - Kimono Zulu will present its reimagined vintage Japanese kimonos for the first-time ever at two prime locations at the world-famous Round Top Antique Show this fall, October 12-30. The epic, twice-a-year event draws hundreds of vendors and hundreds of thousands of shoppers to the “big-time small” city of Round Top (population 90) for the world's biggest treasure hunt.
Dubbed by PaperCity Magazine as Houston’s Kimono Queen, Tina Zulu’s pristine collection of wearable art consists of men’s, women’s and children’s vintage kimonos sourced from Japan circa the 1920s through the 1990s, as well as upcycled obi handbags and accessories.
“From the very first time I experienced the magic of Round Top many years ago, I have dreamed about the chance to “set up shop” and spread joy and #kimonofever there,” says Tina, Creative Chieftess and Brand Stylist of Kimono Zulu. “Every kimono in our collection is a one-of-a-kind antique and has a story behind it so people are drawn to that amazing energy. The Fall Show is going to be amazing!”
Through artist collaborations, Tina inspires and initiates the visual conversation for artists to incorporate their own design sensibilities, bringing new life to vintage kimonos in a thoughtful, beautiful and often playful way. The reimagined kimonos are embellished and modernized to be enjoyed as unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art, many of which have been featured by the Museum of Fine Arts Houston and sought after by kimono-obsessed collectors and stylish celebrities such as Nene Leakes.
